High-manganese steel (commonly called Hadfield steel) is an austenitic alloy typically containing 10% to 30% manganese and 0.3% to 1.5% carbon. It is highly prized in heavy industry for its exceptional work-hardening capacity, profound impact toughness, and superior resistance to wear and abrasion
